First heart surgery has been performed in Russia using domestic occluder
Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Hospital conducted the first in Russia implantation of a new device for patients to prevent strokes: the occluder of the left atrial appendix, which was launched by the Angioline company. Surgery to install the occluder was performed on two patients with a permanent form of atrial fibrillation combined with a high risk of bleeding. Earlier in Russia, all such heart operations were performed using foreign, more expensive and therefore less accessible to Russian medical institutions analogues. Now, thanks to the use of Russian equipment, the conditions have been created for such implantations to be performed more often. The patients were operated on by the head of the department of endovascular methods of diagnosis and treatment of the Regional Clinical Hospital, Professor Alexey Protopopov, and the leading specialist of the department, X-ray surgeon Ksenia Kochkina. Representatives of Angioline LLC were during the implantation: development engineers and medical director Oleg Volkov. Both operations were successful. Occluder implantation is prescribed to patients with cardiovascular diseases who may have a blood clot in the left atrial appendage, which greatly increases the risk of stroke and other thromboembolic complications. Many of these patients are contraindicated for medical reasons, long-term use of anticoagulants (drugs that prevent the formation of blood clots), and the operation becomes the only alternative. At the same time, occlusion is a minimally invasive technology, due to which intervention in the patient's body is reduced to a minimum level and becomes the least traumatic. “We are pleased that another technically complex product of Angioline has entered the market and will enable high-tech operations to be carried out, which have been carried out in our country much less frequently than patients need, due to the high cost of foreign analogues. The success of the implantation procedures once again proves the high potential of the engineers and production of our company. We hope to continue cooperation with the specialists of the Regional Clinical Hospital of Krasnoyarsk and use their extensive experience gained in various areas of interventional cardiology in our developments, ”said Oleg Volkov, medical director of Angioline LLC.
